This is my Nanna and Pa in about 1967, they met when my nanna was 15 and my pa was 16 at a music festival, and strangely enough they were both wearing the exact same colored clothes. I’m not exactly sure what happened after that, but I do know that after about a month of being together, my Pa gave my nanna a friendship/love ring, imprinted on it “Janis Brown-Neaves* IWLF” *my nannas name, what did IWLF stand for? ‘It Will Last Forever’. There love did last forever, my nanna passed away on the 9th of March 2013, after battling cancer for 14 years. When she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999 and after her first chemo lost all her hair, my Pa shaved all his hair off. He attended every single doctor/hospital appointment, besides two where he couldn’t. He cooked for her and looked after her all though her 14 years with cancer. 5 days before she passed, she got told she only had two weeks left. My pa didn’t attend the doctor appointment where she got told the tragic news as he was getting a cat scan, so he got told the news when he arrived at the hospital. As soon as he heard, he held my nannas hand, looked into her eyes and kissed her. That might seem insignificant, but my nanna and pa had only ever pecked when they kissed each other, but this was a full on kiss. From what my aunty who saw it told me- it was magical, just like a fairy tale. My pa did not leave her side once, he didn’t sleep, barely ate, he stuck by her side holding her hand even when she got to the stage where she couldn’t talk or open her eyes. She wore her friendship/love ring from my Pa every day of her life, and passed away wearing it. Out of all of the love stories I’ve heard about, my Nanna and Pas story is by far my favourite.

Finding Nemo is the top selling DVD of all time.

James Sullivan’s hair and Nemo’s anemone were animated using the same computer program.

The seagulls (“Mine!”) in Finding Nemo are modelled after the evil penguin from the Wallace and Gromit short The Wrong Trousers.

Bruce, the great white shark was named after what Steven Spielberg called the mechanical shark in Jaws.

The scene where Dory and Marlin need to go through the Jellyfish colony contains 74,472 jellyfish, and upwards of 8,000 in any single shot.

Deb’s alter ego is Flo, a reference to “ebb and flow.”

The three tiki heads in the fish tank are actually modeled after three pixar employees, Peter Sohn, Nelson Bohol and Ricky Nierva.

Dory’s nosebleed in the Bruce scene was the first time blood was shown in a Pixar movie.

The diver’s camera reads “A113,” which is a reference to a room used by the animation department at CalArts - alma mater of a large number of Pixarians.

And of course, like every other Pixar film, the Pizza Planet truck makes a cameo.

There’s some debate as to whether this poster of a large mouse on a fork near the bathroom in the dentist’s office is a reference to Ratatouille, which would come out 4 years later.

There’s a kid in the dentist’s office reading a Mr. Incredible comic book.

Nemo actually appeared in Monster’s Inc as one of Boo’s toys, two years before Finding Nemo was released.

If you look closely at the end of Finding Nemo, you can see Luigi from Cars, which would be released three years later.

The actor who plays Shane Botwin from Weeds is the voice of Nemo.

The movie originally didn’t start out so sad. The death of Nemo’s mother was told through flashbacks, instead. However, the animators changed this because they “wanted the viewers to understand the overprotective nature of Marlin” from the start.

The reason the name on the diver’s goggles is P. Sherman is due to the fact that a large part of the film’s crew was Filipino, and “fisherman” apparently sounds a lot like “P. Sherman” in a Filipino accent.

Pixar has a habit of referencing older Pixar films in their movies. Here’s Buzz Lightyear on the floor of the dentist office.

The fish that says “Oh my gosh! Nemo’s swimming out to sea!” is named Kathy.

people who are rude to cashiers or waiters or any customer service people are my least favourite people because all day these people run around doing things for everyone else and keep a smile on their faces despite dealing with jackasses and if you’re having a shitty day then don’t take it out on those who assist people for a living and deal with assholes on the daily and are still nice about it
